Prominent media personality MC Yaa Yeboah recently opened up about a painful and deeply personal experience from her school days.
In a heartfelt interview on the Delay Show with Deloris Frimpong Manso, she recounted an incident at Achimota Preparatory School that left a lasting impact on her self-esteem. After delivering a poem at another school, Yaa Yeboah was pulled aside by her Twi teacher, who told her, “You shouldn’t be in a hurry to be in the midst of people. You are not beautiful enough, you can never be a TV presenter. You’re too black to be on TV.”
This cruel comment, combined with the bullying she endured from her classmates, made Yaa Yeboah feel unattractive throughout her school years. “I never felt pretty, so I used to fight a lot because that was the only language I understood. If anyone tried to come at me, I would beat that person up,” she disclosed.
Despite these challenges, Yaa Yeboah has defied the odds. She has risen above the negativity and is now a successful TV and radio presenter, as well as a respected MC. Her journey is a powerful testament to the resilience of the human spirit and a reminder that beauty and talent shine far beyond the boundaries of hurtful stereotypes.
