The Ministry of Transport has confirmed that the Nana Agyemang Prempeh I International Airport is set to be officially commissioned on May 10, 2024.

This announcement comes following President Akufo-Addo’s declaration during the 2024 State of the Nation Address to Parliament, where he revealed the completion date of the project and its dedication to the esteemed Ashanti King.

President Akufo-Addo, during his address, highlighted the significance of the upcoming commissioning amidst other national priorities. The event, scheduled for May 10th, will witness the President’s participation alongside the revered Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and the Minister for Transport, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah.

The journey towards the airport’s expansion commenced in June 2018 when President Akufo-Addo initiated the phase two expansion, followed by the commencement of phase three in April 2019, upon Parliament’s approval of a budget totaling €58.9 million.

Phase three encompasses vital developments including an extended terminal building, a fire station, air control tower, among other crucial infrastructural enhancements.

With the completion of phases two and three reaching 100%, the Nana Agyemang Prempeh I International Airport is poised for its official unveiling on May 10th, 2024.
