It was a day of emotions when Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh bid adieu to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) executives in Manhyia South on Wednesday.

Popularly known as ‘Napo’, the astute politician faithfully served the people of Manhyia South for four terms before being nominated as the NPP running mate for 2024.

Dr. Prempeh, who is a down-to-earth person, officially thanked Manhyia South party executives and members for their unflinching support over the years on Wednesday.

In a low tone, he remarked “It’s extremely difficult to say goodbye to my beloved Manhyia South Constituency after 16 consecutive years of service to my people”.

According to him, everything that has begun has an end therefore he was leaving Manhyia South to take up a new challenge as the NPP vice presidential candidate.

Napo therefore appealed passionately to the Manhyia South residents, especially the NPP executives and members, to continue to support him in his new position.

Addressing the NPP executives and members in Manhyia South, Napo said even though his days as Manhyia South MP were over, he would continue to support the area.

“Lawyer Baffuor Awuah will be succeeding me as your MP so please make me the “Abusuapanin” to wit ‘head of family’ in Manhyia South Constituency, henceforth.

According to him, his new role as “Abuasuapanin” would enable him to continue to serve and play crucial roles towards the effective development of the constituency.

Napo concluded by advising his constituents to faithfully support Lawyer Baffuor Awuah, his successor, to win the impending election and sustain the development of the area.
