Nigeria’s House of Representatives has called for a nationwide ban on pornographic websites, arguing that such sites promote adultery, prostitution, and promiscuity.

The motion, sponsored by the Representative for Katsina, Dalhatu Shehu Tafoki, urges the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to impose severe sanctions on Internet Service Providers (ISPs) that fail to comply.

Tafoki cited studies highlighting the psychological and social harm of pornography, warning that it fosters unrealistic marital expectations, addiction, and negative self-perception.

The House directed the NCC to compel ISPs to block explicit content and fully enforce existing communications and IT laws.
