Ghanaian actress, producer, and director Yvonne Okoro recently sparked a heated debate during her appearance on TV3 Ghana with Giovanni Caleb. In a candid interview, Yvonne shared her preference for Nigerian men over Ghanaian men, emphasizing emotional traits like love and affection as the basis for her views.
Clarifying her stance, Yvonne explained that her preference wasn’t about financial considerations. “Nigerian males are superior to Ghanaian men. Take that away; I’m talking about the financial part. It’s not just about money. It’s affection, love, and everything. Those are crucial,” she said. She stressed that qualities like care, respect, and devotion are essential in relationships, noting that material wealth cannot replace genuine love or compensate for abusive behavior.
Yvonne also praised Ghanaian actor Majid Michel, humorously describing him as “more Nigerian than Ghanaian.” She commended Majid for displaying the qualities she admires in Nigerian men. “Majid Michel acts like he’s from Nigeria; in fact, based on his behavior, I believe he is a Nigerian. Perhaps it’s because he spends so much time shooting in Nigeria and other places, but he possesses all of the attributes I listed earlier,” she added.
Her remarks have sparked mixed reactions online, with some supporting her sentiments while others criticized her perspective.
