Sarkodie has opened up about the inspiration behind his latest hit single, “No Sir.” Released only a few days ago, the song has already become a street anthem and is being celebrated as a must-play track for the festive season.
The message of the song is clear: young men should learn to “cut their coat according to their size.” In an interview with Joy News, Sarkodie revealed that the song stems from a personal experience.
Sharing his story, he said, “This is a true story, and I think from both perspectives… I think it’s happened to me before, but it wasn’t this bad. A friend of mine who came from a good family and had a car while I came from a middle-class family.”He had his own space in the boys’ quarters of his house. My girlfriend, who everyone knew I was dating, ended up connecting with him. I took it in stride, learned from it, and changed from that day forward.”
The rapper noted that the story is something many people can relate to, especially during the festive period. “This December, people will go out with their girlfriends and might end up going back alone,” he said with a laugh.
Interestingly, Sarkodie admitted that he had kept the song unreleased for two years. He explained, “I did not want to release it, especially with the election tension, but the distributors released the song, and the feedback has been great.”
As “No Sir” continues to gain popularity, it’s clear that Sarkodie’s ability to turn personal experiences into music that connects with his audience remains unmatched. Fans are eagerly awaiting more magic at his upcoming Rapperholic concert.
