The final funeral rites for late Nollywood actor Alexx Ikenna Ekubo-Okwaraeke, popularly known as Chief Ikuku, were held on Thursday, June 18, in his hometown of Arochukwu in Abia State, Nigeria.
The solemn ceremony brought together hundreds of mourners, including family members, friends, colleagues from the film industry, government officials, dignitaries, and well-wishers who gathered to pay their last respects to the actor.
Dressed predominantly in white attire, mourners converged at the Mary Slessor School Field in Amanagwu Village, Arochukwu, to honour the memory of the thespian , whose contributions and impact in the entertainment industry were celebrated throughout the event.
Several Nollywood stars were present at the funeral, including Ikechukwu Ogbonna, Mike Godson, Ini Edo, Omoni Oboli, and Stan Nze, among others. Their presence reflected the deep admiration and respect the late actor commanded within the industry.
During the ceremony, emotional tributes were read in honour of Alexx Ekubo, with speakers highlighting his personality, achievements, and the legacy he leaves behind.

Following the funeral service, his remains were conveyed to his family house at Aziukwu Ujari Village, Arochukwu, Abia State, where he was laid to rest.
A reception is currently underway, bringing together mourners and guests as they continue to celebrate the life and legacy of the late actor. Alexx Ekubo was widely known for his roles in numerous Nollywood productions and remained one of the industry’s most recognisable faces throughout his career.
