At the ongoing manifesto launch at the Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS), Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, alongside his running mate Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, laid out significant commitments aimed at furthering Ghana’s development and enhancing the efficiency of government services.
Dr. Bawumia announced a major reform in the passport application process, promising that holders of the Ghana Card will no longer need to fill out additional forms to apply for a passport. This move is expected to streamline the application process, reduce bureaucracy, and make it easier for Ghanaians to access travel documents.
Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Vice Presidential candidate, highlighted the government’s achievements in the energy sector, recalling the five years of persistent power outages, popularly known as ‘dumsor,’ before President Akufo-Addo took office in 2017. He emphasized that despite the numerous challenges, the current administration has managed to keep the lights on, ensuring a stable power supply even in difficult times.
In a strong defense of his running mate, Dr. Opoku Prempeh asserted that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has never been accused or investigated for corruption, underlining the integrity and clean governance record that Bawumia brings to the ticket.
The manifesto launch sets the stage for the upcoming elections, with these key pledges reflecting the NPP’s focus on good governance, streamlined services, and reliable infrastructure as they seek to retain the trust of the Ghanaian electorate.
