Andy Appiah Kubi, Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North and a prominent figure in the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has visited Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, affectionately known as NAPO, following earlier public disagreements over NAPO’s selection as the party’s running mate.

Appiah Kubi had previously voiced reservations about NAPO’s candidacy, advocating for a candidate more connected to the grassroots, humble, and respectful. Despite his opposition, the NPP’s National Council confirmed NAPO’s selection as Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s running mate. It was unveiled in Kumasi on July 9.

On July 16, Appiah Kubi made a conciliatory visit to NAPO’s office, signalling a resolution of their differences. During the visit, both men pledged to collaborate closely to ensure the NPP’s success in the upcoming 2024 general elections.

In a Facebook post, Henry Nana Boakye, NPP’s National Organizer, expressed satisfaction with the reconciliation, emphasizing that the party is now unified and determined to “break the eight” years of opposition rule.

“The brotherhood is rekindled, and NPP vice presidential candidate Hon Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO) and Hon Andy Appiah Kubi were rekindled earlier today. The NPP is poised to break the 8!!”

The gesture of unity between Appiah Kubi and NAPO underscores the NPP’s commitment to presenting a cohesive front ahead of the crucial elections, aiming to consolidate support and secure victory in 2024.
