The Member of Parliament (MP) for Nsawam Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has urged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to pause the transition process until the Electoral Commission (EC) declares all parliamentary election results.
Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, December 11, at the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) office in Nsawam, Annoh-Dompreh expressed concerns over disputes surrounding some parliamentary results, including the one in his constituency.
He also criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC), describing their actions as irresponsible, and called for a secure platform to be established by the EC for the announcement of the remaining results.
“Let me appeal to the outgoing president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. We know he has begun the transition process as a matter of course. However, we appeal to him to halt this process. Equity demands that the right things are done first. All parliamentary seats must be declared by the EC before the transition continues,” he said.
Annoh-Dompreh also urged President-elect John Dramani Mahama to ensure that his party members maintain fairness during this period.
Meanwhile, the MP denied allegations linking him to a shooting incident at the Nsawam Adoagyiri Collation Center. The Eastern Regional Chairman of the NDC had accused him of shooting an election observer, Richard Taboh, during a clash at the center.
Describing the claims as “completely false,” Annoh-Dompreh called on the Ghana Police Service to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
