Nukunu Sports Academy have earned promotion to the Ghana Division One League following a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Oti Warriors in a decisive Middle League playoff match on Sunday.
The win crowned an outstanding season for the academy side, popularly known as the “Wonder Boys”, who demonstrated remarkable consistency and dominance throughout the campaign. Their promotion marks a historic achievement for the club as they prepare to compete in Ghana’s second-tier league for the first time.
Nukunu’s impressive journey began with a commanding league campaign in which they won 12 of their 14 matches, drawing one and losing just once. The champions scored 20 goals and conceded only two, underlining their defensive strength and attacking quality.
The academy maintained their momentum in the Sub Middle League, winning all three matches to claim the title with six goals scored and only two conceded. They then completed a flawless Middle League campaign, recording three straight victories, scoring five goals and conceding just once.
Across all competitions, Nukunu won 18 of 20 matches, scored 31 goals, conceded only five, and kept 15 clean sheets. Their promotion rewards a season of discipline, organization, and exceptional performances.
