Ashanti Regional champions Osei Kyeretwie Senior High School (OKESS) claimed a 3-1 victory over Liberia’s Nathan Reeves Charity Memorial High School in an international high school friendly at Paa Joe Park on the campus of KNUST.

The match brought together the reigning high school football champions of Ghana’s Ashanti Region and Liberia in a thrilling contest that highlighted the growing football relationship between the two countries.

OKESS produced an impressive display to secure a comfortable win, delighting their supporters with a dominant performance on home soil.

The fixture was not the first international high school football encounter between Ghana and Liberia. In 2018, Ghana’s Adu Gyamfi Senior High School faced Liberia’s World Wide Mission High School in a similar friendly.

Before the main game, fans were treated to a curtain-raiser between Opoku Ware School and T.I. Ahmadiyyah SHS. The match ended goalless before OWASS triumphed 7-6 in a dramatic penalty shootout over Real AMASS.

The successful staging of the international friendly once again showcased the importance of school football in nurturing young talent while strengthening sporting ties between Ghana and Liberia.
