Call us

GFA President Kurt Okraku has honoured the memory of departed heroes of Ghana football while outlining sweeping reforms during the 31st Ordinary Congress at Prampram on August 12, 2025.Among those remembered were Wilberforce Kwadwo Mfum, Ghanas first AFCON goal scorer; former GFA Vice-Chairman Joseph Ade Coker; Neoplan Stars founder Jonathan Abbey Pobey; former media committee member Ackah Anthony; veteran journalist Ebo Quansah; and passionate supporter Francis Yaw Frimpong (Nana Pooley).Reviewing the past year, Okraku confirmed all domestic competitions were completed for a sixth consecutive season. New measures include thrice-weekly Match Review Panel sittings, mandatory pre- and post-match press conferences, performance-based GPL awards, and an expanded Happy Hour fan engagement programme.Youth development rules will require U-19 players in all matchday squads, with stricter quotas across GPL, DOL, and Division Two. RFAs will receive GHS 80,000 each to run U-15 girls leagues, alongside free Colts registration, grassroots coach training, and expanded youth tournaments.Refereeing standards will be boosted with increased match fees, insurance coverage, and continued recruitment through the Catch Them Young initiative. Infrastructure upgrades at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre are ongoing, with improved pitches, facilities, and accommodation. The GPL will benefit from a new Adesa Productions partnership, promising enhanced TV coverage, marketing, and at least GHS 1 million per club, plus professional radio commentary.Okraku reaffirmed the GFAs push for policy reforms, including alcohol sponsorship approval, reduced VAT for clubs, school football integration, betting tax redistribution, and sponsorship tax incentives.Safety measures have also been tightened following the death of fan Nana Pooley. Through discipline, passion and collaboration, we will continue to protect, promote, and grow our game at all levels, Okraku concluded.
