Onua Foundation has made a significant donation of sanitary pads to young people from primary six to Junior High School in the Ada area through the Queen Mothers Consortium in the Ada Constituency, in the Dangme East District, Greater Accra Region.
The donation, which took place on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, was part of the Foundation’s on-going efforts to promote menstrual hygiene and support young girls in managing their menstrual health with dignity. The ceremony, held at the Ada Community Center, was attended by community leaders, beneficiaries, and stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, Abu Issa Monnie, Head of the Onua Foundation, highlighted the collaborative effort behind the initiative.
“We are here on behalf of the board and management of Media General, which owns Onua TV, Onua FM, Onua Online, TV3, 3FM, 3News Online, and Onua Foundation. This donation follows an appeal made on behalf of the people of Ada. We are presenting sanitary pads collected from various donors, including Mr. Cool and friends-UK, the Telecel Foundation, the Orange Group, Madam Tiwaah Addo Danquah Executive CEO of EOCO and numerous individuals who supported us via mobile money contributions,” he said.
He emphasized the importance of the initiative in nurturing future generations:
“This donation aims to help girls in Ada attend school with dignity. We hope it will make a significant difference. This is just the beginning; we believe future partnerships will allow us to do even more for the people of Ada.”
The Queen Mothers Consortium, represented by Naana Lomokie Lomo, Vice President of the group and Queen Mother of the Lomobiawer Clan, expressed gratitude for the donation:
“We are deeply grateful to the Onua Foundation and its donors for their kindness. Ada needs initiatives like this to support our children.
