Ghana’s World Cup opponents Croatia concluded their final home preparations with a 2-1 victory over Slovenia at the Stadion Varteks, as Zlatko Dalić’s side continue building momentum ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

After a goalless half-time, skipper Luka Modric opened the scoring account in 51st minute. Andraz Sporar levelled the score thirty-two minutes later before Mario Pašalic scored again late in the game to seal the win for the homesters.

The result marks a return to winning form for the Blazers after back-to-back defeats against Brazil and Belgium in previous matches.

Croatia showed resilience to secure the win, responding positively as they ensured their squad is set and ready before heading to the United States for the global tournament.

Dalić’s men are now expected to shift focus fully to their World Cup campaign, where they will face a tough Group L challenge.

The European side will open their tournament against England on June 17 before taking on Panama on June 23.

Their final group-stage fixture will be a meeting with Ghana on June 27, in what is expected to be a crucial clash in deciding qualification from the group.
