In a significant step towards enhancing security in the Akuapem South Municipality, Otoobour Djan Kwasi II, the Aburihene and Adontenhene of Akuapem, officially broke ground for the construction of an ultra-modern Divisional Police Station in Aburi.

The project, a collaborative effort between the local government and Ghana Gas, is set to bolster law enforcement capabilities in the region.

Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony, Otoobour Djan Kwasi II expressed profound gratitude to Ghana Gas for their initiative. He emphasized the crucial role of policing in maintaining peace and security in the Municipality.

“This facility, once completed, will bring peace into our communities and the Municipality as a whole. It is a vital step towards bringing policing closer to the people,” he stated.

Hon. Frank Aidoo, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Akuapem South, underscored the importance of the new police station in his address.

“Today’s groundbreaking is not just about constructing a building; it is a symbol of our unwavering commitment to the safety, security, and well-being of our people,” he remarked.

Hon. Aidoo highlighted the necessity of a modern, well-equipped police station to accommodate the growing needs of the community as it continues to develop.

He noted that the new facility would enhance the police force’s ability to maintain law and order, respond swiftly to emergencies, and engage more effectively with the community.

The project, which includes various essential amenities such as a charge office, a commander’s office, an armory, and a waiting area, is part of Ghana Gas’ broader corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

A representative from Ghana Gas, delivering the CEO Dr. Ben Asante’s address, expressed pride in the company’s role in supporting the development of police infrastructure across the country.

“Ghana Gas is committed to bringing policing closer to the people, ensuring that our communities are safe and secure,” the representative said.

The Queenmother of Aburi, Awo Amene II, also addressed the gathering, urging the youth to take peace seriously and avoid social vices. She reiterated that the police are allies in maintaining peace, not enemies, and called for community support in helping the police fulfill their duties.

The new Divisional Police Station in Aburi is expected to be one of the best in Africa, serving as a model for law enforcement facilities across the continent.

The project reflects a shared vision for a safer and more secure environment, where businesses can thrive, children can play freely, and families can live without fear.
