The Asantehene also took the opportunity to remind President Mahama of his campaign promises, stating that he is keenly watching the fulfillment of those commitments. He expressed hope that divine guidance would help the president successfully fulfill his mandate.
“I am paying close attention to all that you promised before becoming President of Ghana, and I pray the good Lord helps you fulfill your promises and mandate successfully. We are already six months into your term, and what you have done so far deserves credit and applause, even though tougher times lie ahead,” Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II further urged humility in leadership, stressing that the presidential position should not be a means of personal gain but a platform to serve the people humbly. He emphasized that Mahama’s humility since taking office has been admirable and should remain a guiding principle for his administration.
“We don’t know any other Ghanaian or anyone else you are the one Ghanaians know and voted for. This position of power should not be a means of self-glorification, but rather an opportunity to demonstrate the humility you have always shown since I got to know you,” Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II to President Mahama.
In addition, Otumfuo advised newly appointed ministers to remain grounded and focused on their responsibilities. He warned against allowing power to inflate their egos but encouraged them to work tirelessly in support of President Mahama’s “reset agenda.”
His counsel aimed to foster a government that is committed to service, humility, and national development, reinforcing the unity between traditional authority and the government machinery.
