The Chairperson of the , Abena Osei Asare, has warned District and Municipal Assemblies against using funds allocated to Members of Parliament and Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) for emergency activities.

She issued the caution during the Committee’s second zonal public hearing in to consider the 2024 Auditor-General’s report.

The Committee observed that some Assemblies were misapplying funds, including using PWD allocations for events such as Independence Day celebrations and payment of retirement packages to Assembly members.

The Ranking Member, Samuel Atta Mills, who chaired the sitting, directed that all such funds be refunded within 30 days.

He said allocations to MPs are sometimes used without their knowledge because they are not signatories to the accounts at the Assemblies.
