On Saturday, August 26, 2023, Ghanaian artist Poetra Asantewa and the Apogee band will perform their latest EP, Prelude to a Poem, at Alisa Hotel in North Ridge (Botsio Hall).
Prelude to a Poem is a preview of Poetra’s remarkable evolution as an artist. The EP mixes poetry with alternative R&B, pop, jazz, and neo-soul to create a theatrical soundscape of storytelling.
It explores themes such as vulnerability, surviving in a capitalist world, finding love in mundane and peculiar places, and the reality of diasporic relationships.
Poetra is a multifaceted artist whose work has been praised both locally and internationally. Her previous projects, including her book, album, and play, have all been met with critical acclaim.
