A police inspector identified as Bright Appiah Danquah has reportedly been arrested for allegedly robbing multiple mobile money vendors at gunpoint in Kumasi and surrounding areas.

According to reports, Inspector Bright, who is said to be stationed at Abuakwa, allegedly forgot his mobile phone on a victim’s counter after carrying out one of the robberies.

In a surprising twist, he reportedly proceeded to the Adiebeba Police Station before the victim arrived and filed a complaint claiming his phone had been stolen. He allegedly requested officers to help track the device.

However, the alleged robbery victim also arrived at the station shortly afterward to report the incident, leading to suspicions surrounding the officer.

Speaking to Crime Check Foundation, a victim identified as Victoria Arkoh said the inspector allegedly robbed her of GH?38,600 at gunpoint.

She recounted that the terrifying experience caused her to urinate on herself, soaking her one-year-old baby during the ordeal.

Victoria further revealed that when she visited the Kumasi Central Police Station to file her complaint, she was informed that several other mobile money vendors had made similar reports involving the same suspect.

Reports indicate that more than eight mobile money vendors may have been targeted in the alleged robbery spree.

Authorities say Inspector Bright and three alleged accomplices, comprising another police officer and two civilians have been remanded into custody pending further investigations.
