
Elite Academy Prempeh College and Western Region finished Matchday One at the top of Groups A and B respectively in the 2026 KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship on Sunday, October 4.
Prempeh College began their Group A campaign with a 2-0 victory over Northern Region, a result which sent them immediately to the top of the table with three points.
Greater Accra also claimed three points after beating Central Region 1-0. They are second, level on points with the group leaders but behind on goal difference.
Volta Region are third with two points following a dramatic 5-3 penalty shootout win over Upper East Region. The match ended 2-2 in regulation time, leaving Upper East with one point.
Central Region and Northern Region are yet to earn a point after the opening round of fixtures.
Western Region lead Group B on goal difference after recording the largest win of the first matchday. They defeated Eastern Region 4-0 to move to the top of the standings.
Elite Academy BIG Boss also made an impressive start, beating defending champions Ashanti Region 4-1 in their opening match. BIG Boss have three points, but sit second behind Western Region on goal difference.
Brong Ahafo occupy third place after a 2-0 victory over Upper West Region, which also gave them three points.
The defending champions are fifth in Group B, while Eastern Region are bottom following their heavy defeat.
The championship is sponsored by the KGL Foundation and forms part of the Ghana Football Association’s Talent Development Scheme (TDS). The initiative is designed to identify, develop and nurture emerging football talent across the country.
It gives promising young players the opportunity to demonstrate their technical ability, tactical understanding and potential while competing against some of Ghana’s leading youth prospects.
