President Akufo-Addo calls on Ghanaians to uphold democratic values ahead of 2024 Elections

Prior to Ghana’s highly anticipated 2024 elections, the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, delivered a heartfelt and reflective speech from Jubilee House, urging Ghanaians to protect the nation’s democratic legacy.

In his address, the President framed the elections as not only a routine civic exercise but a cornerstone of Ghana’s identity as a stable democracy in Africa.

Reminding Ghanaians that despite differing political affiliations, the goal remains the same: a better Ghana for future generations. He appealed to citizens to rise above divisions and focus on the collective advancement of the nation.

President Akufo-Addo reminded citizens that democracy extends beyond voting, symbolising the collective right to live with dignity and freedom. He lauded Ghana’s political maturity, emphasising the country’s consistent history of peaceful transitions of power, which has earned it international respect.

The president expressed pride in Ghana’s democratic achievements under his tenure and encouraged citizens to continue strengthening these values. He noted the evolution of civic participation, particularly among the youth, who now see voting as an essential part of their civic responsibilities.

He called on political parties, candidates, and supporters to ensure peaceful conduct during the elections, reinforcing Ghana’s status as a beacon of democracy. He urged all stakeholders to respect the process and accept the results as declared by the Electoral Commission.
