The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has congratulated the President-elect, John Dramani Mahama of his victory in the just-ended presidential election.
In a statement, President Akufo-Addo expressed his commitment to ensuring a seamless transfer of power on 7th January 2025 and looks forward to working with the President-elect and his team to realize this goal.
President Akufo Addo further congratulated the Electoral Commission and the Ghanaian people for what he called, ”a successful election that reflects the enduring strength of Ghana’s democracy”.
“He acknowledges the commitment and participation of all stakeholders, which have ensured that the democratic process in Ghana remains credible and peaceful. President Akufo-Addo calls on all Ghanaians to unite and work together to consolidate democracy and the rule of law in our country.In the spirit of collaboration, the President has invited the President-elect for a meeting on Wednesday, 11th December 2024, at Jubilee House to initiate the transition process.”
President Akufo-Addo stated that he remains committed to the principles of good governance and a peaceful transition ”that will further strengthen Ghana’s reputation as a beacon of democracy in Africa. May God continue to bless our homeland Ghana and make our nation great and strong”, the statement noted.
