President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced an additional public holiday on Monday, August 5, 2024, following Founders’ Day on Sunday, August 4, a statutory public holiday.
The declaration, made by the president through an Executive Instrument (E.I), is in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601).
Interior Minister’s Statement: In a statement issued by the Interior Minister, it was clarified that Founders’ Day on August 4, 2024, falling on a Sunday, necessitated the declaration of Monday, August 5, 2024, as a public holiday nationwide.
The statement affirmed, “The general public is hereby informed that Sunday, August 4, 2024, marks Founders’ Day, which is a statutory public holiday.”
This decision ensures that Ghanaians can observe the significance of Founders’ Day and enjoy an extended holiday weekend.
