Ghana Football Association President Kurt Edwin Simeon Okraku inspired the Futsal National Team before their departure to Rabat, Morocco, ahead of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations, which commences on Thursday April 11, 2024.

The visit reflects the President’s keen interest and confidence in the Futsal national team to achieve results in the continental championship.

President Okraku highlighted the need for the team to stay united, remain positive and draw inspiration from the country’s 2023 Africa Games successes to etch their name in gold.

He encouraged the team to step up to the occasion and demonstrate their strong winning mentality by performing creditably in the North African nation.

The visit by the hardworking Ghanaian football leader demonstrates the great importance the Football Association attaches to the upcoming Futsal Africa championship.

This was also a great source of motivation for the players who are preparing to represent their nation with pride.

The Futsal National team left Accra for Rabat, Morocco, on Wednesday April 3, 2024, eight clear days before the start of the tournament in a bid to acclimatize as they round up their preparations.

Ghana, who were runners-up in 1996, have been paired in Group A, alongside hosts and defending champions Morocco, 2020 bronze medalists Angola as well as Zambia who make a return to the tournament after missing out on the last edition in 2020.

Ghana will face off with Zambia in their opening match before taking on Morocco in their second match; the team concludes the Group phase by playing Angola in the final match.

In Group B, Africa’s most successful CAF Futsal AFCON Nation title holders, Egypt, will battle 2008 winners Libya as well as Namibia and Mauritania.

The top two finishers from each group will advance to the semi-finals, with the top three nations securing qualification as CAF’s representatives to the 2024 FIFA Futsal World Cup to be held in Uzbekistan from 14 September – 06 October 2024.
