President Mahama nominates two ministers and reassigns two others

President John Dramani Mahama has nominated two Members of Parliament as Ministers of State and reassigned two serving ministers to new portfolios.

The nominations were announced in a statement issued by the Presidency on Friday, August 7, 2026. The President submitted the names to Parliament through the Speaker for prior approval, in accordance with Article 78(1) of the 1992 Constitution.

The nominees are:

1. Dr. Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings, MP – Minister for Environment, Science and Technology.
2. Mahama Ayariga, MP – Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.

The President also reassigned two ministers to new ministries.

1. Hon. Kenneth Gilbert Adjei has been reassigned as Minister for Defence.
2. Ahmed Ibrahim, MP has been reassigned as Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources.
