President John Dramani Mahama has nominated Members of Parliament Dr. Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings and Hon. Mahama Ayariga to serve as Ministers of State as part of changes to his ministerial team.
According to a statement signed by Hon. Felix Kwakye Ofosu on Friday, August 7, 2026, the President, in accordance with Article 78(1) of the 1992 Constitution, submitted the names of the two nominees to Parliament through the Speaker for prior approval.
Dr. Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings has been nominated as Minister of State at the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology, while Hon. Mahama Ayariga has been nominated as Minister of State at the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
The changes follow the deaths of former Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and former Minister of Environment, Science and Technology Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, who died in a military helicopter crash on August 6, 2025.

As part of the reshuffle, President Mahama has reassigned Mr. Kenneth Gilbert Adjei from the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources to the Ministry of Defence. He has also reassigned Ahmed Ibrahim, MP, from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs to the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources.
The latest ministerial changes are subject to parliamentary approval for the nominated Ministers of State.
