President John Dramani Mahama has welcomed the Executive Committee of the Assemblies of God Church, led by its Global Chairman, Rev. Dominic Yeo, ahead of the church’s 10th Triennial World Congress scheduled for October 14–16, 2026, in Accra.
Receiving the delegation at the Jubilee House, President Mahama expressed pride in his membership of the Assemblies of God Church, recounting how he joined the church after marrying his wife, who was introduced to it by a friend.
The President said the church had become an integral part of his life, describing the Ringway Gospel Centre as a close-knit family where members support and look out for one another.
He recalled that Ghana was selected to host the congress in 2023, noting that preparations had seemed distant at the time but the event was now imminent.

President Mahama commended the Local Organising Committee for its work, acknowledging the logistical challenges involved in organising an international gathering of such scale.
He said the original venue, Black Star Square, could not be used because the required facilities were not ready in time. The government therefore temporarily reopened the Accra International Conference Centre, which was undergoing renovation, to accommodate the congress.

President Mahama also praised the growth of the Assemblies of God Church in Ghana, saying it continued to attract new members and expand its capacity to accommodate growing congregations.
He expressed confidence that Ghana would successfully host the congress and that delegates would leave with positive memories of the country.
The President further acknowledged challenges some delegates faced in obtaining visas and travelling to Ghana, saying measures had been taken to ease the process.
He said he looked forward to participating in the congress, which begins on Wednesday, October 14.
