Lambussie MP Professor Titus Beyuo has offered to pay the hospital bills of 12 people injured in the violence that erupted in Hamile following a deadly explosion in the Upper West Region.

The injured residents are receiving treatment at different health facilities, with two requiring surgery for fractures sustained during the disturbances. The other 10 are said to be stable and awaiting medical reviews to establish whether they are fit for discharge.

The injuries followed confrontations between some residents and security personnel after tensions rose over allegations that civilians had been shot. The situation reportedly escalated into protests targeting the Ghana Immigration Service.

During the unrest, some protesters allegedly destroyed an Immigration Service checkpoint, damaged about three vehicles and moved towards the service’s office, prompting security personnel to secure the facility.

Warning shots were reportedly fired during the confrontation, leaving 12 people with injuries. Ten sustained puncture wounds, while two suffered fractures. A bullet was subsequently removed from the limb of one of the injured residents. The two patients with fractures were transferred to the regional hospital after nearby facilities were found unable to provide the required treatment.

Speaking on Citi FM on Thursday, November 5, 2026, Prof. Beyuo said he had visited the injured residents and informed their families and the hospitals that he would settle the cost of their treatment.

“I’ve informed the hospitals where they are, visited them, and I’ve informed the doctors there to give all the care and then forward the bills to me to settle,” he said.

The MP said the incident had created an unexpected situation for the affected families and assured them of his support as the residents receive medical attention.
