England-Ghana midfielder Rafiq Lamptey has joined League Two side Chesterfield on loan from Millwall U21 for the 2026-27 season. The 19-year-old central midfielder completed the temporary switch on 30 July and will remain with the Spireites until the end of the campaign.
Lamptey, who was born on 24 August 2006, links up with Chesterfield after two years in Millwalls development set-up. His loan agreement is scheduled to run until 31 May 2027, when he is due to return to the Championship clubs under-21 squad.
The move offers Lamptey a first full season in the EFL, with Chesterfield adding depth in central midfield as they prepare for the new League Two campaign. He is capable of operating in the middle of the park and arrives with early exposure to senior knockout competition.
During his time with Millwall, Lamptey made his mark in the FA Cup, registering an assist in his sole appearance in the competition while featuring for 24 minutes. He has also been involved across Championship and EFL cup squads without yet establishing himself at first-team level.
Lamptey previously moved to Millwall U21 from non-league side Harrow Borough in August 2024 on a free transfer, progressing through the youth pathway before earning this first loan into the Football League.
The teenager now begins a season-long spell with Chesterfield, who have secured his services on loan from Millwall U21 until next summer.
