US rapper Kodak Black has been arrested in Florida on a felony charge linked to alleged MDMA trafficking, according to jail records.
The 28-year-old artist, whose legal name is Bill Kapri, was taken into custody on Wednesday and is being held without bond ahead of a court appearance in Orlando.
Authorities said the arrest stems from a police investigation launched in November 2025 after officers responded to reports of gunfire near Children’s Safety Village in Orlando. During a search of two vehicles at the scene, officers allegedly discovered cannabis and a pink pill that later tested positive for MDMA inside a BMW SUV.
Investigators said items recovered from the vehicle, including a bag and lighter, were linked to Kodak Black through images posted on social media. Police also alleged the rapper attempted to claim cash found inside the bag, saying it belonged to his business. Laboratory testing later confirmed the substance recovered weighed about 25 grams, leading to a trafficking charge under Florida law.
Kodak Black’s lawyer, Bradford Cohen, has challenged the allegations, describing the case as weak and saying his client voluntarily surrendered to authorities. The rapper has previously faced several legal issues, including weapons and drug-related charges. In 2021, his federal prison sentence for firearm-related offences was commuted by then-US President Donald Trump.
