Nigerian Afrobeats sensation, Rema, delivered a surprising moment at the 2024 Dreamville Festival in North Carolina, leaving fans stunned as he abruptly exited the stage during his performance on Sunday.
Amidst his rendition of the hit track ‘Calm Down’ on Day 2 of the festival held at Dix Park in Raleigh, Rema paused to express dissatisfaction with the sound quality before abruptly leaving the stage.
Voicing his frustration, Rema highlighted the importance of equal sound standards for African artists compared to their Western counterparts on international platforms.
In his candid remarks, he stated, “Hold on, there are too many sound issues. It’s messing up my whole performance. I’m seriously not feeling this sh*t. I’m representing Africa, this is too messed up. If the sound cannot be perfect for every artist that gets on this stage… Africa is in the house and you are messing sh*t up?”
The Dreamville Festival, spearheaded by American hip-hop luminary J. Cole, provided a platform for artists from diverse backgrounds to showcase their talents and connect with audiences.
