Asante Kotoko are set for a major squad overhaul ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season, with 10 players reportedly expected to leave the club as preparations begin for the new campaign.
According to Kumasi-based Akoma FM, Peter Amidu Acquah, Elvis Kyei Baffour, Baba Yahaya, Emmanuel Antwi, Kwame Poku, Dauda Saaka, Johnson Owusu, Francis Acquah, Morifing Donzo and Isaac Mintah are all expected to depart the Porcupine Warriors, subject to official confirmation from the club.
The reported exits come after a disappointing 2025/26 season for Kotoko, who finished eighth in the Ghana Premier League with 49 points, falling well below expectations for one of the country’s most successful clubs.
The anticipated departures are expected to pave the way for a rebuilding process as the club looks to strengthen key areas of the squad ahead of the new season. Management is expected to be active in the transfer market as they seek to assemble a more competitive team.
While the club has yet to make an official announcement, Akoma FM reports that confirmation on the players’ futures is expected in the coming days as Kotoko continue their preparations for the 2026/27 campaign.
The Porcupine Warriors will be hoping the expected changes help restore the club’s fortunes as they target a return to challenging for the Ghana Premier League title and other domestic honours next season.
