Thomas Partey
Reports indicate that Thomas Partey has been playing through a serious injury that has affected his performances at Villarreal this season.
The Ghana international recently came under criticism from head coach Marcelino Garca Toral following Villarreals UEFA Champions League defeat to Bayer Leverkusen.
However, sources close to the player reveal that Partey has been battling severe pubalgia for nearly two months, a condition that has restricted his movement and made it difficult for him to perform at his usual level without significant pain.
Despite the ongoing discomfort, the former Arsenal midfielder continued to make himself available for selection as Villarreal navigated a challenging period, opting to play through the pain rather than remain sidelined.
The injury also sheds light on Parteys absence from Ghanas international fixtures in November, when the Black Stars faced Japan and South Korea.
He was advised to withdraw from national team duty to prioritise treatment and recovery, with the aim of returning to full fitness rather than risking further complications.
Sources insist that Parteys commitment has never been in question, stressing that he has worked to manage the injury carefully while remaining available to support his team whenever possible.
As his recovery progresses, there is optimism that a fully fit Partey will rediscover his best form for both Villarreal and the Black Stars.
Partey joined Villarreal on a free transfer after his contract with Arsenal expired in August and has made 21 appearances across all competitions this season, though he has struggled to establish consistent form and influence.
