The Regional Football Association’s Coordinator of the Ghana Football Association, Daasebre Adu-Asare, has paid a working visit to the leadership of the Tarkwa District Football Association (TDFA) on Friday, 16th August, 2024.
The visit, at the district office of the Association in Tarkwa, was to discuss the highly innovative policies and the vision of President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku and the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association for the growth of football at the grassroots.
While expressing his gratitude for the warm reception accorded him, he reiterated the GFA’s focus on youth and women’s football while touching on matters relating to the general outlook of the game in the district, in particular, and the region, as a whole.
In his introduction, he conveyed a goodwill message from the President to all members and went on to state that President Simeon-Okraku has a clear focus on fixing the fundamentals of Ghana Football.
“Major areas that the President has identified and taken pragmatic steps in fixing include Refereeing and Coaching and he requires your support to be able to do so,” Daasebre Adu-Asare told the Executives of the Tarkwa DFA.
Daasebre Adu-Asare further stated that the President’s intent on fixing these areas of challenge is the reason for the implementation of the Catch Them Young refereeing policy which is making strides in the game. He went on to commend the Tarkwa DFA for supporting the President’s vision and running with it.
“I will urge you to continue recruiting more of these young talents to keep the Catch Them Young Refereeing policy moving.”
In the area of Coaching education, he stated that the GFA has rolled out a free License D course for Colts club coaches as well as Women Football coaches and encouraged all to take advantage of these free courses so they can be trained to help develop Colts players in the right and modern way.
He further stated that another major problem that the President has identified was the inability of Colts clubs to register players because of the Ghana Card requirement. Daasebre Adu-Asare informed the meeting that, after discussion with his (the President’s) colleagues on the Executive Council, it has been agreed that the National Health Insurance Cards may be used for Colts registration.
Mr. Daasebre stated:
“The Executive Council has directed that all Leagues in the country must start during this first window starting with Division Two leagues in October. No Second Division League must start later than October. Following the start of the Division Two Leagues, Division 3 and Colts Leagues would also commence.”
He touched on the GFAs support in the area of footballs, free Colts registration and other support items for the districts and the region as a whole.
In his closing remarks, Daasebre Adu-Asare commended the hard-working District FA Chairman, Murtala Mohammed Iddrisu, and his Executive Council for the great work they are doing to keep association football alive in Tarkwa and its environs.
