Rihanna has announced that she is stepping down as CEO of her lingerie brand Savage X Fenty. The music star will be succeeded by Hillary Super, former CEO of Anthropologie Group.
Rihanna co-founded Savage X Fenty in 2018 and has served as CEO since then. Under her leadership, the brand has become a major player in the lingerie industry, known for its inclusive and body-positive messaging.
In a statement, Rihanna said that she is “grateful” for Super’s “strong leadership” and her “commitment to taking the business to an even higher level.” Super is a veteran retail executive with experience at Guess, American Eagle, Gap, and Old Navy.
Rihanna will remain involved in Savage X Fenty as executive chair. She said that she is “excited” to see the brand continue to grow and expand under Super’s leadership.
The transition comes as Savage X Fenty is looking to expand beyond e-commerce and into wholesale and brick-and-mortar. The brand has already opened seven stores in Los Angeles, Houston, Las Vegas, and Atlanta.
Rihanna’s decision to step down as CEO is a sign of her confidence in the brand’s future. She is now free to focus on her other businesses, including her cosmetics line Fenty Beauty and her fashion label Fenty.
