Algeria international Riyad Mahrez has joined Al-Ahly in the Saudi Pro League from Manchester City after spending five years with the Premier League champions.
The 32-year-old has joined a group of former Premier League stars, such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Ruben Neves, Jordan Henderson, Kalidou Koulibaly, N’Golo Kante, Edouard Mendy, and others.
The former Leicester City player, who won the Premier League with the Foxes, has left England after almost a decade having joined the Cityzens in 2018 for a deal worth £60m.
Mahrez took to social media to write a goodbye message to the club, fans and teammates.
“Today marks the end of an unforgettable chapter in my life, a five-year journey filled with countless memories. Before leaving, I wanted to thank the board, the manager and the staff for giving me the chance to prove myself at the highest level.
“To my teammates, both past and present. Sharing the pitch and the dressing room with you has been a pleasure.
Together, we’ve broken countless records, achieved what seemed impossible and never stopped believing in ourselves during the challenging times we faced. Our last season will forever be remembered in our Club and beyond, and I’m proud to have been a part of it.
“Finally, I wanted to thank you, Cityzens. Thank you for making me feel like a part of your family from day one, and giving me confidence every time I stepped onto the pitch wearing this shirt. I’ll be forever grateful for your support and your love,” he wrote.
During his five seasons with City, Mahrez won 10 major honors with the club, including their recent achievement of winning the Treble. He scored a total of 78 goals and provided 59 assists in 236 appearances.
