The Rotary Club of Tarkwa has extended a helping hand to the Tarkwa Prisons, donating essential items to enhance the well-being of inmates, in a heartwarming display of compassion and community support.
The donation which has become an annual ritual, comprised two blood pressure monitors, three infrared thermometers, medications, bags of water, toilet rolls, toothpaste and brushes, and other toiletries, worth GH₡10,000.
Present the items, the Club President, Abdel-Razak Yakubu,emphasized the significance of collective efforts in enhancing the lives of those in need and fostering positive change within the community.
To this end, he expressed appreciation to all club members and donors, for the continued support and commitment to the ideals of the Club.
He urged the prison officials to ensure that the donated items are put to good use to maximize the impact and uphold their duty to provide adequate care for inmates.
In response to the gesture, the officials of Tarkwa Prison officials who received the items, on behalf of the inmates, expressed their appreciation to the Rotary Club for their occasional support.
They noted other donations and medical screening programmsconducted by the Rotary Club of Tarkwa for inmates in the past.
Acknowledging the impact of the donation on the daily lives of those under their care, the officials emphasized the importance of such contributions in promoting a conducive environment for rehabilitation and reintegration.
They appealed for continued support from the Club and the community, recognizing the ongoing challenges faced by correctional facilities in meeting the diverse needs of their inmates.
