Singer Sam Smith and fashion designer Christian Cowan are reportedly engaged after three years together.
According to reports from US media, the couple were overheard discussing their engagement at the Mark Hotel ahead of the 2026 Met Gala in New York City. Cowan also designed Smith’s outfit for the event — a black embellished cape featuring feathered and tassel details.
Speaking about the look on social media, Cowan said it was inspired by fashion illustrator Erté and described it as “a love letter” to Smith.

The outfit reportedly featured more than 255,000 crystals and beads and took around 2,000 hours of hand sewing to complete. Smith publicly came out as non-binary in 2019 and uses they/them pronouns.
