The Second batch of Black Galaxies have begun camping at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence at Prampram for assessment and screening exercise by head Coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani.

Selected players from the screening exercise will be the core players of the Black Galaxies for the Championship of African Nations qualifiers against Nigeria. This exercise is expected to increase competition for a spot in the Black Galaxies, thus ensuring that players who make the Squad would be very competitive.

“I think it is the second group and the exercise is just to see them on a close view to be able to establish what we previously had seen them on our data base’’ Didi Dramani told ghanafa.org.

‘’Due to very limited time available, we thought that it is good to bring them closer so that we can integrate and then they adapt to the structures in    different faces of the game, and so the two weeks has given them a good expression more especially from the players as individuals, groups and work as a team with the Black Galaxies structure’’.

‘’So far it has been good, we have formed strong collaboration in terms of linking up with various clubs and more especially the coaches, I think week in week out I speak to  majority of the coaches where these players are, just to find out updates and we also created a data base in terms of monitoring groups, monitoring player and various players that have been Identified into the data base, so before we call we know that the player  is active, player has been injured or back to playing times, player has played few games or the player is okay  and training’’.

‘’We  bring players based on how we place them in the data base, we also identified from the Ghana universities you know who plays in the competition in Nigeria and then also checking on lower divisions and also checking on the division one’s, checking on the premier, you know everywhere player is there you should give him the opportunity’’.

‘’The privileged to be seen and to be spoken to and if there is a need for you to bring the person closer you bring the person closer and so these are the many things that we have been doing’’.

”And also, definitely we have challenges of time constraints and then clubs play outstanding matches and so potentially just few players on the park, there was miscommunication here and there so I told them to just play, get involved so that we can monitor them and also having the difficulties of unavailability of some players when needed due to some matches, there are some challenges but I think in every challenge you need a strong hand to handle it;; he added.

Ghana are gearing up for a thrilling clash against Nigeria in the second round of the CHAN 2024 qualifiers, scheduled for December. The Black Galaxies have a rich history in the competition, having reached the finals twice in 2009 and 2014. However, their last outing ended in disappointment with a 2-0 quarterfinal defeat to Niger.

In their previous meeting, Ghana eliminated Nigeria to secure qualification to the last edition of the CHAN tournament in Algeria after post-match penalty shootouts, following a 2-2 aggregate scoreline.

The upcoming two-legged affair will take place between December 20-22, 2024, in Ghana, and December 27-29, 2024, in Nigeria.

The winner will not only secure their spot in the CHAN 2025 but also gain a significant boost to their footballing reputation following the rivalry between Ghana and Nigeria.
