Serge Gnabry has revealed that the Champions League game between Bayern Munich and Arsenal is a do-or-die affair.
In an interview published on Bayern Munich’s website, the former Arsenal forward believes getting one over his former club will turn Bayern’s fortunes around.
“It’s a do-or-die game – that’s where we’re usually particularly strong. Reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League would give us a huge boost. It’s our big goal,” he said.
The game will obviously be special for Serge Gnabry, who spent several years at Arsenal as a young player before returning to Germany in 2016.
However, he believes just like Bayern Munich, Arsenal are also in pole position to qualify
“Arsenal have had what it takes to play at the top for a long time. The team has a certain flair and exudes strength. The odds are probably 50-50,” he added.
Champions League games between the two have brought up some famous results with Arsenal losing the last encounter 10-2 on aggregate but the Bayern Munich forward insists the past results will not affect Tuesday’s game.
“Arsenal have been on a very good run since Christmas. In any case, you can’t really say anything bad about a team that’s competing for the Premier League title.

“They’re strong, good finishers and are keen on having possession. They’re formidable in their own stadium with their fans behind them. It will be a difficult task, with two strong teams coming up against each other,” he further stated.
With Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel already conceding defeat in the Bundesliga title race, the Champions League presents another opportunity to at least win a trophy for the Bavarian Club.
