Sharaf Mahama, son of John Dramani Mahama, paid a courtesy visit to the Ghana national under-17 football team during their friendly match against True Life FC at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday.
Sharaf, a former player with the West Africa Football Academy, interacted with both players and the technical team, offering words of encouragement ahead of the 2026 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations. He urged the squad to remain focused and committed as they prepare for the continental showpiece, while also challenging them to make the nation proud and secure qualification to the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
He praised the team’s resilience during the WAFU tournament in Côte d’Ivoire, where they booked their place at the AFCON. Sharaf also reunited with head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum, who previously coached him during his time at WAFA.
The visit provided a morale boost for the Starlets as they continue preparations for the tournament.
