Ghanaian defender Ivan Anokye Mensah has completed a long-term move to Slovak side Spartak Trnava, signing a contract that will keep him at the club until 2029.
The 22-year-old centre-back joins from Sparta Prague B, where he impressed with consistent performances last season and earned a first-team league appearance for the Czech champions.
Mensah returns to familiar surroundings, having previously played in the Slovak top flight with Žilina and Banská Bystrica. His experience in the league is expected to ease his transition as he begins a new chapter with Spartak Trnava.
The former Ghana U20 international was part of the Black Satellites squad that won the 2021 U20 Africa Cup of Nations in Mauritania, helping Ghana secure a fourth continental title.
Speaking after completing the transfer, Mensah expressed his excitement about the move.
“I was thrilled by this opportunity and I’m happy to be part of this family. As soon as the offer came, I didn’t hesitate,” he said.
The defender also believes his previous experience in Slovakia will help him settle quickly.
Spartak Trnava have described Mensah as a key addition to their defence as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season and compete for honours.
