Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, expressed his gratitude to Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko for their participation in the first-ever Democracy Cup held at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Bagbin commended both teams for their sportsmanship, particularly acknowledging Hearts of Oak for their graciousness in defeat.
The event saw a thrilling match between Accra Hearts of Oak and their rivals, Asante Kotoko. Asante Kotoko beat Accra Hearts of Oak 2-1 to lift the maiden trophy.
Bagbin lauded the day as a significant milestone in Ghana’s democratic journey, emphasizing the public’s faith in democracy, the electoral commission, and the justice system. He also acknowledged the trust Ghanaians have in Parliament, a key pillar of democracy.
“I thank the two great teams in Ghana let me start by thanking Accra Hearts of Oak you are really a gracious loser and you have shown the way in competition feelings the love for each other. And we are expecting that in our elections we should all be gracious losers congratulations for winning the silver medals,” he said.
“Now then we coming to Asante Kotoko Fabu Fabu Fabu Fabulous I love you so much today once again you have shown that kum apem apem beba,” he added.
