The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has referred President John Dramani Mahama’s seven nominees to the Supreme Court to the Appointments Committee of Parliament.

The Committee is expected to vet the nominees and present its report to the House for approval or otherwise.

The seven nominees are: Justice Sir Dennis Dominic Adjei, Justice Gbiel Simon Suurbaareh, Justice Senyo Dzamefe, Justice Kweku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo, Justice Philip Bright Mensah, Justice Janapare Bartels-Kodwo, and Justice Hafisata Amaleboba.

President Mahama, in April this year, nominated the seven Justices of the Court of Appeal for consideration and possible elevation to the Supreme Court.

The nominations were made in accordance with Article 144(2) of the 1992 Constitution, and are subject to parliamentary approval.
