The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has inaugurated the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Africa Qualifier B, scheduled for March 2026 in Ghana.
The ceremony marks a key milestone in the country’s preparations to host the international cricket tournament, which is expected to promote the sport, stimulate tourism and deepen community engagement nationwide.
Addressing attendees, the Minister described the inauguration as another important step in Ghana’s efforts to leverage sports for national development and global engagement. He also cited the successful hosting of the 13th African Games as proof of Ghana’s capacity to stage major international competitions.
LOC Chairman Nii Okai Evans Anfom thanked the Ministry and the Ghana Cricket Association for the confidence reposed in the committee, pledging to deliver a professional and memorable tournament.
Six countries—Ghana, Tanzania, Eswatini, Malawi, St. Helena and Seychelles—will compete in a round-robin format, with the top two advancing to the next qualification stage for the 2028 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
