Minister for Sports and Recreation Hon. Kofi Adams has encouraged the Black Stars to use the disappointment of their FIFA World Cup exit as motivation to achieve greater success in future competitions. The Minister delivered the message while addressing the players and technical team after Ghana’s 1-0 defeat to Colombia in the Round of 32, urging them to remain confident despite the end of their World Cup campaign.Adams praised the team’s performances throughout the tournament, insisting the Black Stars had shown they belong among the world’s best and were capable of going even further in future editions.”We have what it takes to partake in every World Cup and get out of the group stages and even go further,” he told the squad.”So, we didn’t make it. Our wish was that we would have carried the day. But we played so well, and I believe we don’t regret we went in. Everybody is congratulating us that we have a good team. It means you exhibited something good on the pitch.”The Minister urged the players to view the tournament as a valuable learning experience rather than dwell on the disappointment of elimination.”What we need is for the very few mistakes that we made to become a learning platform for all of us. It should not dampen you.”Echoing head coach Carlos Queiroz’s message about collective responsibility, Adams reminded the players that the national team journey continues, with the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers next on the calendar. He also advised members of the squad not to be discouraged by criticism on social media following the defeat.”I know as we leave here, those of you who love to go on social media will see all manner of postings, analysis and criticisms. Please, you are professional footballers. Let no such comment dampen anyone. If for anything, it should motivate you to do more.”Adams concluded by thanking the players for their commitment and service, assuring them that Ghanaians appreciated their efforts despite the Round of 32 exit and remained confident the team would return stronger in future competitions.
