NJ/NY Gotham FC and Fort Lauderdale United FC have mutually agreed to terminate the loan of Ghanaian forward Stella Nyamekye, effective immediately. The 20-year-old Black Queens star returns to her parent club in the NWSL following a productive six-month stint in the USL Super League.Initially signed by Gotham FC in early 2025 on a three-year deal, Nyamekye was loaned to Fort Lauderdale in August to gain professional experience during their inaugural season. She became a central figure for the Florida-based side, registering one goal and two assists across 14 appearances. Her technical quality was evident as she led the team in key passes and ranked among their top performers in passing accuracy before the agreement was cut short. The decision follows a brief recall in January when Nyamekye joined Gotham for the FIFA Womens Champions Cup training camp. Although she briefly returned to Fort Lauderdale earlier this month, both clubs decided that her development would best be served by a permanent return to New Jersey. This move bolsters Gothams depth ahead of a demanding domestic season and ensures Nyamekye is sharp for international duty. The midfielder, who remains under contract with Gotham through 2027, is expected to be a vital asset for Ghana in the upcoming 2026 Womens Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
