Gospel musician, Regina Padi has shed light on the numerous challenges newcomers face in the gospel music industry, particularly regarding financial constraints and lack of support from churches and communities.
In an exclusive interview with Ghana Weekend, Padi expressed concern over the high cost of promoting music and the limited opportunities for emerging gospel artistes to thrive.
“The challenges are many, financial issues and promotion. Promoting a song is not served on a silver platter,” she lamented. “It’s not easy approaching someone to promote your music because they’ll definitely charge.”
She also pointed out the difficulty of growing a fan base on digital platforms.
“Sometimes, people watch your videos but refuse to subscribe to your channel. That’s also a big challenge.”
Padi who is a member of the Church of Pentecost, further criticised the lack of support from some churches and local communities.
“They’ll invite outsiders for programmes and pay them, but they won’t call on their own members who are artistes. I’m pleading with our churches and communities to support and promote us.”
