The Supreme Court has deferred until July 29, 2025, a hearing on Nana Appiah Mensah’s (NAM1) application to suspend his High Court trial.
The Menzgold Ghana Limited CEO seeks to pause proceedings pending an appeal, after the Court of Appeal unanimously rejected his stay request in May 2025.
NAM1 faces 39 criminal charges—including operating unlicensed deposit-taking businesses, defrauding by false pretence, and money laundering—alongside his companies Brew Marketing Consult and Menzgold. He pleaded not guilty and remains on bail. The High Court trial, where he was ordered to open his defence, stays suspended pending the Supreme Court’s ruling.
When questioned by TV3 about comparisons to convicted fraudster Nana Agradaa, NAM1 dismissed the parallel: “Let’s not give credence to that.” The case continues amid heightened public scrutiny of financial crimes, contrasting with President Mahama’s GoldBod anti-corruption drive.
